In Case You've Forgotten.... (Or Perhaps Never Knew.)

Here is a little refresher on what this trip is all about

It's called The Great Loop.

It involves the circumnavigation of the eastern 1/3 of the continental United States by water.  Let's face it, we westerners have long believed that folks "back east"  live in their own world.  Well, here's the proof.  It seems they have their own little island!  (Explains a lot, huh. )

That little red circle you see at the right-center is our departure point for this leg of the journey, near Deale, MD where Irish Lass awaits us.  From there we will proceed north and Loop in a counter-clockwise direction.  We hope to complete the season  (October-ish) south of Chicago, somewhere in the Mississippi/Ohio/Tennesee river system.   We will try to update this map periodically so you visually can track our progress.

OY! Canada

As the map shows, there are ample cruising routes for Loopers north of the border.  But the gates to Canada remain closed to recreational boaters, with dim prospects for a reopening this summer.   Our passports, etc are packed, just in case.  But we expect to forgo the wild beauty of  Lake Huron's north shore for a Rust Belt retrospective along the US coast of Lake Erie. (heavy sigh)

Meanwhile, back in the garage......

Thanks for following!

  3. I've enjoyed every issue your blog travels, with many chuckles along the way. Please keep writing! All our travels have been virtual since this bloody plague started so you are keeping adventure alive for me! Enjoy and stay safe while you are doing it! Fondly, Teri O'Rourke
