It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of MV Irish Lass’s fur-Admiral Golden Retriever, Maggie.
She set sail on her final journey
on October 31, 2024. Born March 1, 2011, she took to water almost immediately,
falling off a dock for the first time at 8 weeks of age. From then on she was always happiest around
water. On the boat, a kayak , or a dinghy or just chasing sticks into Priest Lake or Lake Michigan, being wet was her preferred condition.
In our nearly 14 years together, she joined us for many adventures, both nautical and terresterial. She completed six cross-country drives
with us and, including herstops on the
Great Loop, she visited 29 US states and two Canadian Provinces. And while not always a fan of the actual travel
process, she loved new destinations to experience, new grass between her toes, and new people to
meet. At every port, she quickly became
our dockside ambassador and to this day there are many Loopers who, even if they can't recall us, can instantly recognize Maggie. Having her on our Loop made all the difference in the world. Rest In Peace, fur-Admiral Maggie
I'm so sorry for your loss. We loved seeing Maggie walking around the neighborhood. She was so sweet and will be missed. We are thinking of you guys ❤️
ReplyDeleteI remember returning to the locked gate at the marina on Lake Michigan you were staying at when we visited from Spokane. It was only when the person on the other side of the gate learned I was with "Maggie's boat" that she would unlock the gate and let me in. Maggie was loved by all and apparently figured if I was with Maggie's owners I was ok
ReplyDeleteThis post brought a tear to my eye and a smile in my heart! What a wonderful obituary for your beloved companion. May you imagine her swimming beneath the rainbow bridge. So sorry for your loss of dear sweet Maggie♥️🌈

ReplyDeleteMaggie was by far the most well-travelled dog I've ever met. It was an honor to have known her and her owners, I think I remember her having owners, right? :>) Nice tribute to a fine animal.
